Book review: 'Fiasco' by Imre Kertész
The second book of the trilogy about a young boy who survives Nazi concentration camps. In 1944, a 14-year-old boy, future novelist Imre Kertész, was rounded up while on an excursion in the countryside near Budapest and sent to Auschwitz. And then to Buchenwald. Surviving the camps and returning to Budapest, he was asked, simply, by his surviving family and friends, "Where have you been?"

Roger Friedland: Looking Through the Bushes: The Disappearance of Pubic Hair
In the avant-garde literature of the 1960s, female pubic hair was everywhere. Pubic hair marked the site we all wanted to see, to touch, to enter. It marked pleasures yet to come. Not today: Pubic hair has gone missing.
