Enmity is a Avant-Garde Metal band from Cape Town South Africa and has been active since 2007. In 2007 Enmity was formed by Alain Martheze (vocals) Ross Fenner (guitar) Jay Thomson (bass) Kyle Boyce (guitar) and Trevor Tosh (drums). They were the winners of Mercury's Bandit Battle of the Bands and soon thereafter were joined by Chloe Kiley (vocals/keyboard).

After playing live shows and gigging around the country for almost two years Kyle needed to concentrate on his cheffing career and moved to London leaving Ross as the sole guitarist. Drummer Trevor also left soon after.

In Dec 2008 Enmity began recording their debut album Murderabilia at bassist Jay's studio thereafter mixed and mastered by Dean Bailey at his studio. Vocalist Alain (who is also a drummer) recorded all the drums on the album and just before recording was finished Graham Pitout joined as the new drummer. The album was officially released in June 2009 and was very well received around the country during the consequent national tour.

Enmity have recently (April 2011) gone back into studio to begin pre-production for their second full-length album.

Enmity supported international bands Underoath Haste the Day and Horse the Band on their tours to South Africa in 2008 2009 and 2010 respectively. Biography

The scene slumbers in mediocrity drenched in repetition and starving for the new. From beneath this carpet a scream tears out. It howls with fervor and raw passion that hasn't been seen on these shores for a long long while. At the core of this scream - Enmity stands firm a band of musical gunslingers dealing not only in uncompromised heaviness of lead but also in the natural beauty of death filth and the human condition.

No pretenses at being saviors or heroes here just an honest fascination with the grim reality of the world culminating in a concept album dedicated to the lives and loves of the world's most notorious serial killers. Far from being an experiment in brutality Murderabilia came out as more of a testament to the creative songwriting ability of the band - an intelligent blend of technical metal riffs and symphonic keyboard arrangements. Enmity's debut album is a tongue-in-cheek sidestep away from the cliches of anything 'core' and two very serious steps towards an experimental music culture in South Africa.

Playing live the band feel like it is their duty to not only deliver their music but a true rock n roll show. The effortless ease with which they destroy stage after stage gaining fans with every gig only speaks for the band's heartfelt commitment to their trade.
